| The mobility project will involve UNIMI Depts. of Medicine and Gulu Fac. of Health Sciences who will exchange teachers each, during the project lifespan. In addition to teaching activities, they will compare and discuss on their different methodologies and organizational approach. In this respect, staff mobility offers an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions, facilitate the exchange of learning skills, and promote the professional development of participants. This can be achieved through seminars focused on the research areas explored by the project, such as infectious diseases, hygiene, oral health, among others, as well as through the assessment of clinical training performance. The same mobility scheme will be activated with Zanzibar Fac. of Health Sciences. The project will facilitate the mobility of students, both incoming and outgoing, from each University involved. UMIL will send specializing or PhD students, in the field of public health, hygiene, infectious diseases, maternal and child-care, internal medicine, and non-communicable diseases. They will carry out clinical training activity in the hospitals linked with the Gulu and SUZA Universities. The students from Gulu and Zanzibar will participate in training activities and clinical observation in the hospitals linked with UMIL. The overarching goal of the exchange is to cultivate the concept of global health, with the exchange between faculty from both institutions viewed as highly beneficial in this regard. The project’s potential impact extends to the national level, offering a modern vision of internationalization as a response to the needs of less developed countries and fostering cooperation accordingly. | Student and teachers of the Universities, but also other people working in the Hospitals and finally patients. |

| UMIL new Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Health Science (MACH) is an international landmark and leading centre for global health research. The Institute researchers tackle global health challenges, such as those determining illness and suffering among the poorest and marginalised populations. One important objective is the contribution to development and implementation across disciplines of sound health policies and practices providing equitable access to the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world. MACH has a strong collaboration with the St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor, in Gulu City, in North Uganda, the largest private non-profit catholic based institution in Uganda; MACH has also collaborations with the University of Zanzibar especially in the field of oral health, infectious diseases and neglected tropical diseases. With this mobility projects UMIL intends to facilitate the exchange of students and teaching staff to broaden their horizons, promote cross-cultural understanding, enhance their skills and competencies, and collaborate to address the global health challenges encountered. Students and teachers will have the opportunity to follow seminars also in the frame of UNIMI’s vocational master program in Global Health, that focuses on the study of major global health issues from a multidisciplinary and international perspective. |
