ObjectivesBeneficiaries
GENERAL: Contribute significantly to improving the living conditions of the population in Niger, in line with the PDES 2012-15.
SPECIFIC: Strengthen in a sustainable way the food security of the most vulnerable groups in the communities of Magaria, Kantché and Mirriah (Zinder Region), with particular attention to the resilience of people with disabilities and women, within 24 months.
Direct beneficiaries
·        462 people (66 People with Disabilities (PwDs) and their families) receive support in agricultural start-ups
·        19,800 people have access to family water wells and sanitation training
·        10 Karkara members trained in agroecology
·        66 producers trained in agriculture/breeding techniques/natural resources
·        66 women trained on nutrition/hygiene
·        20 people trained on PwDs inclusion in agricultural activities
·        30 members of the Federation Nationale des Porteurs d’Handicap trained on PwDs Rights and Food Security
·        30 traditional leader trained on PwDs inclusion
·        50 local authorities participate in workshops on disability mainstreaming
 
Indirect beneficiaries
·        1,484,423 inhabitants of the 3 target departments will benefit from market goods and disability mainstreaming
·        17mln ab. Niger benefit from disab. mainstreaming at regional/national level
Role of UNIMI
UNIMI-DISAA provided training modules in applied agroecology and supervised a study of the ‘meat’ and ‘vegetable’ supply chains in the Zinder region.
